6/12/06 - Monday

Drainage trench dug & backfilled

Notes

  • More sun, clearer sky than yesterday.
  • Chris up 6a, get ice, deck boards + platform up top, then to Pooch
  • Cass not feeling good, c/b detox or Moose... Or head banging, or all.
  • Back to crap liquid supp this wk since Panacea too much detox. Spent a while typing up info Chris downloaded on a diff liquid supp to try.
  • Wish could go outside and enjoy sunny weather right away, but so much to do!
  • Opened yurt to get drier air circulating (for change from past 5wks of rain + humidity!) But after opened door, that nasty smell is back. Prob due to that corner not being closed up under?
  • W/no rain and clear day, wanted to wash + hang shower curtain, but couldn't rationalize water use w/water filtration probs. So, just hung on line to dry it out, sprayed first w/atmosklear. (Need to get better clothesline setup! Is too slack, over tall grass/weeds, and can't get to other side)
  • Weekly maint tasks: (217.01 Update construction overview, 217.03 Weekly timeline update/review...
  • Hope we get good weather and good traction soon...
  • Time/wk needed now @ 80 for yurts by 9/1. Ugh!)
  • Horse flies very very very plentiful and annoying and apparently they like hanging laundry.
  • Coleman apparently lied about their screening, SIPPEE is def NOT no see um nettting. no good as a bug reprieve anymore, *#!*@!
  • Sick most all day. Worked anyway.
  • Due to mega horseflies hanging out on curtain and towel, did not use. Made curtain out of trash bags and got other towel.
  • A miserable day.
  • Chris met plumber to review repairs needed at Poocham

213.27 WC Platform: shape ground for drainage/ lay gravel/stone over site

  • corex trench: dug all main driving portions to right depth, had to hack a large ~3"thick root/branch out w/shovel (glad finally got it - did not want to hold up task for chris to get home and use saw!), dug trench up under deck, put corex in and back filled -keeping most rocks out.
  • Rocks used down at edge and tossed around footings, under yurt
  • Gravel pile now gone!
  • Not enough gravel to do a lot of mounding and/or some of the other fill in tasks had hoped to do.
  • Shaped ground where used to be gravel pile
  • Done unless chris says needs more work. if so, have to get more gravel
  • time: 0.5+0.25+1.25+2 =4hrs

303.10 Fix for water at bottom of steps by woodshed

  • filled trench with stone, filled other drainage trenches in that area with stone too
  • time: 0.5hrs

305 Bug Control

  • saw ant(2) inside today. With rains this w/e hadn't gotten to diatomaceous :-( So, made strong mix w/pepp + eucylyptus, sprayed outside around posts/drip edge
  • time: 0.25

275.04 Materials Transport/inventory

  • deck boards and platform parts
  • time: 45 min
